Dr. Nima Gharavi is a leading dermatologist and key opinion leader in Dermatologic surgery and Mohs micrographic surgery. He is the director of Dermatologic surgery & Mohs micrographic surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. A diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology and a fellow of both the American College of Mohs Surgery (ACMS) and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS), Dr. Gharavi has performed over 15,000 skin cancer and reconstructive procedures. ​

Dr. Gharavi graduated summa cum laude at UCLA, majoring in Molecular, Cell and Developmental Biology with a specialization in Business and Administration, and received both his M.D. and Ph.D. degrees at UCLA. He then completed his internship at Cedars-Sinai and residency in dermatology at UCLA. Following residency, Dr. Gharavi completed a rigorous fellowship at UCLA in Procedural Dermatology, which featured a full integration of Mohs micrographic surgery and reconstructive plastic surgery with laser and cosmetic surgery. Through this unique integration, along with his PhD background in the science of skin cancer and aging, Dr. Gharavi is a well-rounded and innovative surgeon. ​

Dr. Gharavi is the recipient of numerous academic awards, including the Lasky award, the Irvine Page young investigator award, and the ACMS Theodore Tromovitch award for his research on squamous cell carcinoma. He has been the recipient of grants from the American Heart Association, the National Institutes of Health, and the National Psoriasis Foundation. His research interests include the molecular pathogenesis of high-risk skin cancers, particularly in immunosuppressed solid-organ transplant recipients, as well as wound healing, inflammation, and the aging process. He is a consultant and has served on the advisory board for several novel cancer and laser therapeutics and also serves on the editorial board for the Journal of Dermatologic Surgeryand Lasers in Medicine and Surgery. To date, Dr. Gharavi has published over 40 peer-reviewed manuscripts, abstracts and textbook chapters, and continues to lecture and teach at national and international conferences. ​

Dr. Gharavi resides in Brentwood, California with his wife, Talia, and two children. He enjoys an active lifestyle, including beach, gym, tennis, basketball and running.
